Professionally timed in-person events are held at the Broomgrass Farm Community. Participants can enjoy the adventure of running or walking on non-technical cross-country trails that wind through fields and woods and along beautiful Back Creek. The events will be held rain or shine. Check-in starts at 8:30am. This is where you will pick up your bib and shoe timing chip. Please follow the signs to find the parking lot. It is a working farm, so do not drive on the fields or anywhere other than the designated areas.
The 10K will be two loops of the 5K course this year. After talking to past participants and other race directors, we are excited to offer a fantastic 5K loop that will benefit all runners and the working farmland. 10K participants will still be able to run the full 10K distance by taking the 5K loop twice.
This year, every person that crosses the finish line will recieve a special “This Race is for the Birds! 25th Anniversary sticker! Make sure to grab yours near the finish line after the race. Race category winners will receive their stickers, as well as a wooden medal! Categories include the top finishers in each gender group (who will receive a gift certificate to a local business), as well as the top 5 finishers in each age bracket.
Preliminary results will be available almost immediately after you finish the race. You can go to the RunSignUp website to view your results. Final results will up within 24 hours.
Make sure you return the race timing chips to us at the race! These are the objects that we borrow from the professional timing company to make sure your race time is accurate! We use reusable chips, which is less strain on the environment in terms of trash as well as the materials it takes to make the chips.
Event Schedule:
8:30 am- check-in and t-shirt pick up begins
8:30 am- Alex and Amy’s food truck open, where you can purchase coffee (and ice cream!)
8:30-9:00 am- Race-day registration opens
9:30 am- 5K and 10K races begin
Throughout the morning- yard games, and relay races for those waiting for their family and friends to cross the finish line and the race participants when they finish the race!
1:00 pm- The event ends. We’ll see you next year!
