CHECK-IN: All 50K and 50M runners MUST check in prior to the start of their race on race morning. Check-in for each event begins approximately one hour before the start; 50M check-in begins at 5 a.m. and should be completed by 5:45 a.m.; check-in for 50K begins at 6 a.m. and should be completed by 6:45 a.m. The course runs through remote, rugged areas and we MUST know who actually started.

CUT-OFFS: This year’s 50M race will have a 14-hour, 15-minute cutoff and the 50K will have a 13-hour, 15-minute cutoff. 50M and 50K runners must complete the course by 8:15 p.m. There will be a 1:15 p.m. cutoff observed at the Long Valley Aid Station (25.3 miles) for the 50-mile event only. A 5:15 p.m. cutoff will enforced for all runners at Peavine Aid Station (mile 38.1 for the 50M and mile 19.5 for the 50K). Cut-offs are non-negotiable and are in effect for the safety of our runners. Any runner who chooses to disregard these cutoffs will be immediately disqualified from the race.

FINISH LINE: Awards are for overall women’s and men’s winners of the 50M, 50K and half-marathon. In addition, age group awards are for the top (first place) women’s and men’s finishers of the following divisions in the 50M, 50K and half-marathon: 19 and under; 20-29; 30-39; 40-49; 50-59; 60-69 and 70 and over.

50M AND “JIMMY’S LOOP”: Part of the 50-mile experience  is a 7.1-mile loop, known as “Jimmy’s Loop,” which will occur once 50-mile runners reach mile 11.7 at the Peavine aid station.

After continuing up Peavine Road for about 4/10’s of a mile after leaving Peavine aid station at mile 12, runners will generally follow Forest Service Roads 41642, 41643 and 21506 on a 7-mile loop. The ascent on Jimmy’s Loop is about 1,800 feet.  Because of this, we’ve added an additional 15 minutes to the Peavine aid station final cut-off; final cut-off for all runners at Peavine is 5:15 p.m. While we’ve added a bit more climbing, we hope you’ll really enjoy the aspens, and the meadow about four miles into Jimmy’s Loop, plus the great views.

The other key landmark/split to be aware of involves the 50M/50K split that occurs approximately 1.9 miles below the Peavine aid station for both the 50M and 50K distances. For 50M runners, this will be after you’ve completed “Jimmy’s Loop.” We will have extensive marking and signage at the split to help you find your way. 50K runners will bear LEFT at the split and continue on toward Ranch Creek and Sandy Hill AS; 50M runners will bear RIGHT and into the trees at the split.
