The Americana Music Festival is scheduled for Saturday May 24th, 2025 at noon, under the tent at Boreal Theater in downtown Millinocket. It will showcase award-winning country artist Perley Curtis, bluesman Mark “Guitar” Miller, as well as Continental Shakedown, Crow Stew with Steve Bailey Sr, Blue Steel Express & Kevin Kimball. Under the tent. Bring Your lawn chairs. Food trucks. $20 to support the arts.

Perley Curtis is a notable country music artist who is known for his skills as a singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist. Curtis has had a successful career as both a solo artist and a member of various bands. His work often showcases his proficiency on the pedal steel guitar, a hallmark of traditional country music. He has collaborated with numerous well-known country artists. He has played with legends such as Loretta Lynn, Connie Smith, and Dolly Parton, contributing his instrumental talents to their music. Throughout his career, Curtis has released several albums and singles. His music typically features classic country themes, combining heartfelt lyrics with traditional country instrumentation. He has toured extensively, performing at various venues ranging from intimate clubs to large festivals, captivating audiences with his authentic country sound. Curtis’s style is deeply rooted in the traditions of country music, drawing influence from classic country artists and honky-tonk sounds. His music often resonates with fans of traditional country, offering a nostalgic yet fresh take on the genre.

Mark “Guitar” Miller is considered by many to be one of the best bluesmen in the country. Mark is from the northern Maine town of Houlton and raised in East Millinocket, Maine. Mark has been playing guitar since he was six years old, and for more than 50 years he has made his living by playing guitar. Mark has performed with several prominent bands, opened for BB King, and collaborated for several years with the lead singer for Boston. He also did a lot of studio work for numerous CDs.

Steve Kimball and Blur Steel Express: Blue Steel Express has been laying down their unique brand of blues in Maine and New England for three decades, and is diversified into a wide range of blues acts, from full-bore electric house-rockin’  to low-down acoustic simmer.
