About
Fairview ‘s Community Garden is a place for active, experiential learning, and it hosts lessons by Denver Urban Gardens. Students work with senior volunteers, DUG employees, professional chefs, and their teacher. Gardening and nutrition are fully integrated into the DPS curriculum. Students also run the Fairview Summer Youth Farmer’s Market program. 10 students are hired each summer and are paid a small salary as they maintain, plant, cultivate, water, harvest, and then sell organic vegetables in the neighborhood. Fairview was the first youth run farmer’s market program in Denver! This program began in 2005 and is still going strong!
