The Derby Run Presented by ASAP Personal Training, in memory of Justin Lopes, takes place at Terry Sanford High School.

The 5K and 10K courses run through the scenic Haymount area as well as the Fayetteville Technical Community Campus and will finish near the Terry Sanford High School baseball field. There will also be a 1 Mile Fun Run and face painting. 

New for 2025: Kids 50 Yard Dash! Who is the fastest filly or colt on the track? A fun event for kids 10 & under will take place before the start of the 10K! No fee for entry, just have your kids in the gate and ready to sprint! 

Participants are encouraged to wear their best Derby Run hat and/or costume. Prizes will be awarded for the best costumed runners, best decorated stroller and best Derby Run hat.

Event Schedule:

7:00 AM - Registration Opens

7:45 AM - Kids (10 & Under) 50 Yard Dash

8:15 AM - 10K Starts

8:30 AM - 5K Starts

8:35 AM - 1 Mile Starts

9:30 AM - Awards (time is approximate)

Course:

The 5K and 10K courses start at Terry Sanford High School and runs through scenic Haymount areas as well as the Fayetteville Technical Community College campus. The 5K run is a flat terrain. The 10K is more challenging and includes some hills. Both the 5K and 10K will finish at the Terry Sanford High School baseball field.

This race course is also stroller and dog friendly!
