THE MAGIC FLUTE by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
The Magic Flute is a fantastical opera that follows the adventures of Prince Tamino and the bird-catcher Papageno. They are on a quest to rescue Pamina, the daughter of the Queen of the Night, who has been kidnapped by the high priest Sarastro. Tamino and Papageno are given magical instruments—a flute and bells—that help them overcome various trials. Along the way, Tamino learns that Sarastro is a benevolent leader, and the Queen of the Night is the true villain. Through their journey, Tamino and Pamina not only discover the power of love and wisdom, but also the transformative effect of these virtues, ultimately joining Sarastro's enlightened community. It’s a tale of courage, love and the ultimate triumph of good over evil, a victory that resonates with the audience long after the final curtain falls. Sung in German with English surtitles.
