We are proud to present you your official invitation to our Celebrating Words art and literacy festival!

Celebrating Words has honored the vision and work of Tia Chucha’s Centro Cultural, teaching us that words are medicine found in our stories, cultural offerings and creative expressions. This dynamic outdoor festival has inspired and amplified the artistic and educational lives of our attendees moving us towards a deeper understanding of self, culture, and community, through the powerful means of the arts and critical literacy.

On our 20th birthday we have grown more than ever, and this year we are launching our very first bicycle valet and bike ride to the festival, new volunteer ASL accommodations, a 25ft rock climbing wall, 4 art exhibits, 25+ vendors, 1,000+ free brand new books, 20+ local resource organizations, 22 interactive art workshops, 7 scheduled presentations, a live musical concert and we are introducing 3 new themed festival areas: CoCo Cocina, Otro Mundo and Creative Resistance!

In a time when our collective spirit is under attack, we stand in solidarity with systematically oppressed communities impacted by colonialism, imperialism, and other forms of hate and destruction of life, here, and all over the world. We offer you this festival as a reflection of our radical love and care. Through this carefully and intentionally curated programming, community conversations, resources and free literacy, we intend to demonstrate to our community the possibilities of imagining and creating a world where everyone is free. We hope your experience is as meaningful and memorable as it was for us to organize it for you.
