7:45 - 9:15 PM: “Build It Together: Co-Creating Aerial Learning Environments” with Jackie Beth Shilcutt

Want to build class environments designed for the learners present that inspire growth while attending to safety? This Activist Approach workshop is designed to walk participants through building a foundation with aerial students to help co-create learning environments that attend to physical and emotional safety. By inquiring with students about their perspectives, teachers and learners can help co-design educational settings that connect with students’ interests, motivations, and learning needs. This information can help the group discover what could help their learning processes, as well as identify and negotiate barriers to their activity enjoyment and engagement. Workshop participants will experience ways to build a foundation for aerial classes, as well as how to co-create “ways of working” with the students to support their learning.
