Before you can purchase a hunting license in Montana, you must demonstrate that you completed a state-approved hunter education course. Certificates from other states are acceptable for new residents or to purchase non-resident licenses. In addition, resident applicants must furnish proof of residency in the state and their Social Security Numbers pursuant to federal law. You also have to pay any required fees when applying for hunting license(s) and/or endorsements.
