Nestled in the beautiful Allegheny Forest in northwestern Pennsylvania, Gateway Lodge Country Inn in Cooksburg is the perfect getaway when the winter blues start to get you down. Each of the six rustic cabins has a deck for outside eating with a beautiful view of the surrounding woods. Accommodating two to eight people, the cabins are insulated with canvas curtains to hold in the warmth on snowy winter days, and a gas fireplace provides warmth and ambience. The kitchen has a gas stove, refrigerator, and microwave, and all cooking utensils, tableware, and serving dishes are included. Some firewood is there, but more can be purchases at the Main Lodge. This large one-bedroom cottage is just right for an intimate time away. Located in Lackawaxen, Pennsylvania, the cottage is complete with a kitchen that has everything you need for preparing your own meals, there’s a gas log fireplace, and all the comforts of home. Minimum overnights are required.

Located in Centre County, Pennsylvania, Black Moshannon State Park is a favorite place to stay overnight, kick back, and enjoy the beauty of the surrounding area. Native Americans called the place Moss-Hanne, which means moose stream, and the black water that is part of the park’s name comes from the tannic acid from the plants and trees that act like a giant teabag. Modern and deluxe rustic cabins are available year-round and can accommodate up to eight overnight visitors. Handicap cabins are available, and each has a kitchen with stove, refrigerator, and microwave.

Located in Sweet Valley, Pennsylvania, very close to Rickets Glen State Park, there’s plenty of space for a family of six or this can be a nice retreat for two.
