The sound of the water lapping the shore and the feeling of sand beneath your toes are elements of beach camping that can’t be beat. These five Massachusetts spots are simply gorgeous. Check them out the next time you go camping.
Not far from the New Hampshire border, the Salisbury Beach State Reservation allows campers perfect beach campsites on the Atlantic Ocean. Their camping season runs from early May to mid-October. Three public bathrooms and boardwalks that take you over the dunes make camping even more comfortable. This portion of the rocky coastline is simply gorgeous, and nearby Hampton Beach has fun and excitement for the whole family.
Beach camping on Cape Cod is probably the best there is in New England. Coastal Acres Campground puts campers in close proximity to enormous white sand dunes, marshes and the sparkling ocean, as well as a pond. Amenities are scarce, but what else could you possibly need? You’re on Cape Cod!
With a private beach for swimming, Shady Point Beach and Campground is perfect for those who want to camp on the water. Bring your fishing boat along, as the season is open. Jet skis are also allowed. Enjoy warm New England weather with some fun in the sun at this beautiful spot.
Scusset Beach State Reservation is a stunning spot for camping and swimming. Featuring 98 sites for camping, other amenities include a fishing pier, breakwater frontage and ample frontage along a canal. The rocks and seashells on this beach add to the ambience.
Bring your RV to Campers Haven RV Resort and enjoy some gorgeous views and private beach swimming. They also have a few sites available for tents, as well as two rental houses that accommodate up to eight guests. Charcoal grills means dinner and s’mores on the beach! Picnic tables are available, too.
